Mir kee GhazaloN meN A'waamee Alfaaz^

jahaaN se dekh`iYe ik she'r-e-shor-aNgez nikle hai
qayaamat kaa saa haNgaamah hai har jaa mere deevaaN meN (Mir)

Mir Taqee Mir ko :KhudaaYe-suKhan: ke laqab se yaad kiyaa jaataa hai. aur Haqeeqat bh`ee yehee hai keh voh Urdu ke un chand gine-chune shoa'raa meN se haiN jin kaa kalaam apnee micaal aap hee hai. "Baabaa-e-Urdu" Molvee Abdul Haq kee raaYe ke mut^aabiq: "agar dunyaa ke aise shaai'roN kee ek fehrist tai,yyaar kee jaaYe jin kaa naam hameshah zindah rahe gaa to Mir ko is fehrist meN Z^aroor daaKhil karnaa ho gaa". Mir ko apnee shaai'raanah a'z^mat-o-maqaam kaa nah Sirf iHsaas hee th`aa bal.k un ko is par faKhr bh`ee th`aa. unhoN ne apne kalaam meN iss faKhr kaa e'laan-o-iz^haar jaa-bajaa muKhtalif andaaz meN kiyaa hai. aisee Khud-sitaayee aur Zaatee numaa,ish hamaare adab aur tehzeeb meN u'mooma" achh`ee naz^roN se naheeN dekh`ee jaatee hai bal.k is ko bohat ma'yoob samjh`aa jaataa hai. lekin yeh amr Mir ke liYe qaabil-e-qubool tasleem kar liyaa gayaa hai. is kaa seedh`aa saa cuboot yeh hai keh Mir kee is Khud-sitaayee kee binaa par kisee shaai'r yaa naqqaad ne kisee e'Hd meN bh`ee un par aNgusht-numaayee naheeN kee hai. sach to yeh hai keh Mir kee shaai'ree ke tanaazur meN un kee basaa-auqaat ta,a'llee kee Had tak baRh`ee huee Khud-sitaayee bh`ee buree naheeN ma'loom hotee hai. yeh Mir kaa hee maqaam hai k voh apne muta,a'lliq yooN keh sakte haiN keh:

reKhtah rutbeh ko poNhchaayaa huwaa us kaa hai
mu'taqid kaun naheeN "Mir" kee ustaadee kaa?

barsoN lagee huyee haiN jab mehr-o-mah kee aaNk`eN
tab ham saa koyee SaaHeb! SaaHeb-naz^ar bane hai

reKhtah Khoob hee kehtaa hai jo inSaaf karo
chaahiYe ahl-e-suKhan "Mir" ko ustaad kareN

saarey a'alam par hooN maiN ch`aayaa huwaa
mustanad hai meraa farmaayaa huwaa!

Mir kee shaai'raana a'zmat kaa e'tiraaf har e'Hd ke asaatiZah-e-she'r-o-adab ne kiyaa hai aur jinhoN ne naheeN kiyaa hai un kaa Mir par un kee Khud-sitaayee ke Hawaaleh se tanqeed se u'moomee iHtiraaz un ke dar-parda e'tiraaf kee daleel mutaSavvur ho saktaa hai. ba'z asaatiZah ne apne kalaam meN Mir se istifaadeh kaa Zikr bh`ee Saaf Saaf alfaaz^ meN kiyaa hai yaa un kee a'zmat ke saamne apnee kam-maayigee kaa e'tiraaf aur iz^haar be-takallufee aur ba'Z^ auqaat faKhr ke saath` kiyaaa hai. chand micaaleN dekh`iYe:

shubha "Nasikh" naheeN kuch` :Mir: kee ustaadee meN
aap be-behrah hai jo mu'taqid-e-Mir naheeN (Nasikh)

reKhte ke tumheeN ustaad naheeN ho "Ghalib"
kehte haiN agle zamaaneh meN koyee :Mir: bh`ee th`aa (Ghalib)

nah huwaa, par nah huwaa :Mir: kaa andaaz naSeeb
"Zauq"! yaaroN ne bohat zor Ghazal meN maaraa (Zauq)

she'r mere bh`ee haiN pur-dard, valaikin "Hasrat"
:Mir: kaa shevah-e-guftaar kahaaN se laa,ooN? (Hasrat Mohani)

Mir ke kalaam par Urdu adab meN bohat kuch` likh`aa jaa chukaa hai aur un kee KhuSooSiyaat-e-she'ree, nishaan-dehee aur tajziyah-o-tanqeed ke muKhtalif maraaHil se guZar chukee haiN. un ke kalaam meN jaZabah-o-iHsaas kee shiddat bh`ee hai aur dil moh lene vaalaa andaaz-e-bayaan bhee, alfaaz-o-taraakeeb kaa be-micaal intiKhaab bh`ee hai aur un kee maahiraana bandish bh`ee, Hasrat-o-yaas kee firaavaanee bh`ee hai aur zindagee ke Gham ko aisee dil-soz saadagee se asha'ar ke saaNche meN Dh`aalne kee be-panaah SalaaHiyyat bh`ee keh un kaa Zaatee Gham balaNd ho kar saaree dunyaa kaa Gham ma'loom hone lagtaa hai aur Ghalib ke is she'r kee ta'beer ban jaataa hai:

dekh`naa taqreer kee laZZat keh jo us ne kahaa
maiN ne yeh jaanaa keh goyaa yeh bh`ee mere dil meN hai!

Mir ke kalaam kee yehee asar-paZeeree hai jo :az dil Khezad, bar dil rezad: ke miSdaaq qaaree ke dil ke taaroN meN ek dilkash irti,a'ash paidaa kar ke us ko jaZbaat-o-iHsaasaat ke Havaale se Mir ke qareeb kar detee hai aur voh un ke Gham-o-raNj meN Khud ko baraabar kaa shareek meHsoos kartaa hai, neez un ke aaNsu'oN meN apne aaNsoo bh`ee shaamil karne meN ek a'jeeb see laZZat meHsoos kartaa hai. yeh voh marHalah hai jahaaN shaai'ree Sirf shaai'ree naheeN reh jaatee hai bal.k har insaan kee HasratoN aur maHroomiyoN kee jeetee jaagtee taSveer ban jaatee hai. yeh dil-sozee aur acar-paZeeree un Khaarijee aur daaKhilee avaamil kee dain haiN jo Mir kee zindagee meN kaar-farmaa rahe th`e. chunaan.ch jab voh kehte haiN keh:

mujh` ko shaai'r nah kaho "Mir" keh SaaHeb maiN ne
raNj-o-Gham kitne kiYe jama' to deewaan kiyaa

to voh un Haalaat kee jaanib ishaarah karte haiN jin se voh u'mr bh`ar do-chaar rahe th`e. ek darvesh-Sifat buzurg kee aulaad kee Haiciyyat se unheN taHammul, qanaa,a't aur Khudaa-tarasee kaa sabaq bachpan se hee milaa th`aa. us par mustazaad unhoN ne aise bohat se Ghareeb aur muSeebat-zadaj logoN se shao'oree aur Ghair-shao'oree t^aur par acar qubool kiyaa hogaa jo un ke waalid-e-buzurguvaar ke paas dunyaavee masaa,il aur raNj-o-Gham se gh`abraa kar rooHaanee aur Zehnee sukoon kee talaash meN aate th`e. bachpan meN yateem ho jaane ke ba'd un ko dunyaa kee be-muravvatee aur be-reHmee kaa Khoob tajribah huwaa th`aa jis kaa Zikr unhoN ne apnee teHreeroN meN jaa-bajaa kiyaa hai. un kee Hissaas tabee,a't kaa in Haalaat se muta,accir honaa aur qudrat-e-fai,yyaaZ^ kee a't^aa kee huyee shaai'raanah tabeea't-o-SalaaHiyyat kaa in tajribaat ko yaas-aNgez lab-o-lehje meN zabaan-e-qalam par jaaree kar denaa a'in iqtiZ^aaYe-fit^rat th`aa aur aisaa hee pesh bh`ee aayaa.

Mir ke kalaam me a`waamee alfaaz^ aur :bolee-Th`olee: kaa wasee' ista'maal un ke maZkoorah-e-baalaa tajribe kaa zaayeedah ma'loom hotaa hai. un ke yahaaN jaZbaat-o-iHsaasaat ko seedh`ee saadee zabaan meN bayaan karne par bohat zor hai aur is silsile meN voh a'am bol-chaal kee zabaan aur fiqre bohat kacrat se ista'maal karte haiN. chooN.k Mir kaa Zehnee aur jaZbaatee rishtah apne aas-paas ke maaHaul se bohat gehraa aur pur-KhulooS hai, bol-chaal ke muravvijah alfaaz^ ke Zarie' apnaa mafhoom doosroN tak poNhchaanaa un ke liYe aasaan bh`ee hai aur fit^ree bh`ee. har-chand keh un ke zamaaneh meN ta'leem mu,a'ashireh ke ek maKhSooS t^abqeh tak hee meHdood th`ee aur Zauq-e-she'r is t^abqeh ke ek muKhtaSar HiSSe ko hee vadee,a`t huwaa th`aa, Mir apnaa dukh` dard awaam-un-naas ke vasee' tanaazur meN un kee zabaan aur andaaz-e-bayaan meN hee behtar t^areeqeh se poNhchaa sakte th`e. un kee is koshish kaa ek HiSSah yaqeena" Ghair-shao'oree rahaa hogaa aur doosraa shao'oree kyoN.k a'am insaanoN ke saath` zindagee meN yehee kuch` pesh aayaa kartaa hai. yehee vajh hai keh Mir apne baare meN yooN kehte haiN keh:

she'r mere haiN sab KhawaaS-pasand
par mujh`e guftgoo awaam se hai!

awaam se Mir kee yeh guftgoo muKhtalif t^areeqoN se huyee hai. un meN sab se munfarid aur ahem voh t^areeqa hai jo zer-e-naz^ar maZ^moon kaa mauZ^oo' hai, ya'nee GhazaloN meN avaam kee zabaan, muHaavaroN aur :bolee-Tholee: kaa maahiraana ista'maal. unhoN ne is maidaan meN beshtar maqaamaat par nihaayat aa'laa ma'yaar qaa,im kiyaa hai. Urdu Ghazal ke doosre asaatiZah ne bh`ee aisee zabaan aur alfaaz^ ista'maal karne kee koshish kee hai magar unheN Mir kee see kaamyaabee naheeN HaaSil ho sakee hai, bal.k yeh kehnaa ziyaadah durust ho gaa keh unkee aisee akcar kaavisheN masnoo,e'e aur be-jaan see ma'loom hotee haiN. jahaaN Mir ma'moolee aur saadah alfaaz^ se ma'nee-aafreenee aur acar-pazeeree par Hairat-aNgez t^aur per qaadir haiN, vahaaN doosre shoa'raa ke yahaaN yehee seedhe saade alfaaz^ Ghair-mu,accar aur bh`artee ke ma'loom hote haiN aur qaaree par koyee der-paa yaa gehraa ta,accur naheeN ch`oRte haiN. chand micaaleN pesh-e-Khidmat haiN:

qaatil mire yaaroN ko nah Khat^ saadah likh`aa bh`eje
bh`eje hai to kaaGhaz ko Tuk ik lohoo lagaa bh`eje (Mushafi)

ai shor-e-qayaamat reh oodh`ar hee maiN kehtaa hooN
chauNke nah abh`ee baat se koyee dil-e-shoreeda (Mir Dard)

aaYe gaa voh chaman meN nah ai abr jab talak
paanee guloN ke muNh meN chuvaayaa nah jaaYe gaa (Sauda)

kuch` Qais aur maiN hee naheeN sab ke sab muYe
achh`aa to dard-e-ishq kaa beemaar kam huwaa (Momin)

in asha'ar meN :Tuk, lohoo, oodhar, paanee muNh meN chuvaanaa, muYe: waGhairah kaa ista'maal qaaree par koyee KhaaS acar naheeN ch`oRtaa hai aur yeh iHsaas baaqee reh jaataa hai keh agar in ke mutabaadil alfaaz^ aur muHaavare ista'maal kiYe jaate to she'r ke ma'yaar meN koyee numaayaaN farq naheeN paRtaa. Mir ke yahaaN Sooraat-e-Haal yaksar muKhtalif hai jaisaa keh aage de gayee tafSeel se z^aahir ho gaa.

yahaaN yeh SaraaHat Z^arooree hai keh "awaamee alfaaz^ aur bolee-Tholee" se voh mubtaZil aur sooqiyaanah mazaaq ke alfaaz^ aur fiqre muraad naheeN haiN jin kaa ista'maal har SaaHeb-e-Zauq kee tabee,at par giraaN guZartaa hai, qata'-naz^ar is ke keh un ko Mir yaa kisee aur ustaad-e-fan ne apne kalaam meN baaNdh`aa ho. bad-qismatee se aise alfaaz^ asaatiZa ke yahaaN bh`ee naz^ar aa jaate haiN aur Mir bh`ee iss ilzaam se mustacnaa naheeN haiN. chand micaaleN dekh`iye:

miT gayee th`ee us ke jee se to jh`ijh`ak
"Dard" kuch` bak-bak ke too chauNkaa gayaa (Mir Dard)

ai "Mushafee"! maiN afSaH-e-sheereeN-suKhanaaN hooN
kab mujh` se t^araf ho sake hai her koyee paajee? (Mushafee)

"Mir" jee iss t^araH se aate haiN
jaise kaNjar kaheeN ko jaate haiN (Mir)

syed ho yaa chamaar ho, is jaa vafaa hai shart^
kyaa a'ashiqee meN pooch`te haiN Zaat ke tayeeN? (Mir)

aise mubtaZil alfaaz^ ke i'laavah jo avaamee alfaaz Mir ne apne kalaam meN ista'maal kiYe haiN un ko darj-e-zel iqsaam meN baaNTaa jaa saktaa hai:

(1) voh alfaaz^ jo pehle zamaaneh meN faSeeH samjh`he jaate th`e aur a'am bol-chaal ke i'laava adab-o-she'r meN bh ee musta'mil th`e: yeh alfaaz^ aur fiqre ab matrook samjh`e jaate haiN. albattah :Z^aroorat-e-she'ree: ke teHt aur ba'z auqaat ba-taur-e-"ijtihaad" jadeed shoa'raa ke kalaam meN ab bh`ee naz^ar aa jaate haiN. in meN se chand alfaaz^ a'waamee bol-chaal kaa HiSSah aaj bh`ee haiN magar adab-o-she'r meN u'mooma" in se iHtiraaz bartaa jaataa hai, macla": yaaN (yahaaN), vaaN (vahaaN), oodh`ar (ud`har), eedh`ar (idh`ar), keedh`ar (kidhar), talak (tak), Tuk (Zaraa), lohoo (luhoo), kabh`oo (kabh`ee), tayeeN (paas) waGhairah. Mir ke kalaam meN aise alfaaz^ ke ista'maal kee dilkash aur pur-acar micaaleN dekh`iye:

sirhaane "Mir" ke aahista bolo
abh`ee Tuk rote rote so gayaa hai!

jo is shor se "Mir" rotaa rahe gaa
to hamsaayah kaahe ko sotaa rahe gaa!

kyoN kar galee se us kee uTh` kar maiN chalaa jaataa
yaaN Khaak meN milnaa th`aa, lo'hoo meN nahaanaa th`aa

poNhch`aa jo maiN aap ko to maiN poNhchaa Khudaa ke tayeeN
ma'loom ab huwaa keh bohat maiN bh`ee door th`aa!

dair-o-Haram meN kyoN.k qadam rakh` sake gaa "Mir"
eedh`ar to us se but ph`ire, oodh`ar Khudaa ph`iraa!

ab to afsurdagee hee hai her aan
vey na ham haiN, na vey zamaane haiN!

aage kisee ke kyaa kareN dast-e-tama' daraaz
voh haath` so gayaa hai sirhaane dh`are dh`are!

Tuk "Mir"-e-jigar-soKhta kee jald Khabar le
kyaa yaar bh`arosah hai chiraaGh-e-saHaree kaa!

hamaare aage tiraa jab kisoo ne naam liyaa
dil-e-sitam-zadah ko ham ne th`aam th`aam liyaa!

Mir ke kalaam meiN aise darjanoN asha`ar haiN jin meN maZkoorah a'waamee alfaaz^ se pur-kaif ma'naviyyat aur acar paidaa ho gaye haiN. in alfaaz^ ko doosre ham-ma'nee alfaaz^ se badal deejiYe to asha`ar kee faSaaHat, lut^f aur acar sab Khwaab-o-Khayaal ho kar reh jaate haiN. is baat kaa Zikr dilchaspee se Khaalee naheeN ho gaa keh Molana Hasrat Mohanee ne apnee kitaab "Nikaat-e-SuKhan" meN maZkoorah-e-baalaa a`vaamee alfaaz^ (Tuk, tayeeN, kabh`oo vaGhaira) ko "matrookaat-e-ma'roof" qaraar diyaa hai. ya'nee yeh alfaaz^ a'am t^aur se adab-o-she'r meN musta'mil naheeN haiN her-chand keh un meN se chand- macalan :tayeeN:- bol-chaal meN ab bh-ee sunaayee de jaate haiN.

(2) a'waamee alfaaz^ kee doosree qism jo Mir ke kalaam meN naz^ar aatee hai un Hindi alfaaz^ par mushtamil hai jin se Urdu-daaN t^abqah nisbata" Ghair-maanoos hai. in alfaaz^ ke ma,a'anee se to kam-o-besh sab hee vaaqif haiN lekin nah to in kaa ista'maal ro-marrah kee bol-chaal meN a'am hai aur nah hee yeh adab-o-she'r meN ista'maal hote haiN. Hindi ke "dohoN" kee taqleed meN Urdu meN aaj kal jo dohe naz^ar aa rahe haiN un meN albattah Hindi ke a'am-fehm alfaaz^ ista'maal ho rahe haiN. "jadeed" Ghazal meN bh`ee in ko gaahe-gaahe ista'maal karne kee koshish kee gayee hai magar is koshish kaa daa,erah bohat meHdood hai. a'vaamee alfaaz^ kee is qism meN darj-e-zel alfaaz^ aur aise hee doosre alfaaz^ ko shaamil kiyaa jaa saktaa hai:

bachan (baat cheet), nichint (befikr, mut^ma,in), rog (maraZ^, beemaaree), samai (vaqt, zamaanah), saaNjh` (shaam), ch`aatee (seenah), pavan (hawaa), nagar (shehr), oar (t^araf, samt), waGhairah.

Mir kee GhazaloN se in alfaaz^ ke ista'maal kee chand micaaleN Haazir-e-Khidmat haiN:

kal baare ham se us se mulaaqaat ho gayee
do do bachan ke hone meN ik baat ho gayee

marne se tum hamaare Khaat^ir nichint rakkh`o
is kaam kaa bh`ee ham kuch` usloob kar chuke haiN

i'shq karnaa naheeN aasaan bohat mushkil hai
ch`aatee patth`ar kee hai un kee jo vafaa karte haiN

dil kee veeraanee kaa kyaa maZkoor hai
yeh nagar sau martabah looTaa gayaa!

muHabbat hai yaa koyee jee kaa hai rog
sadaa maiN to rehtaa hooN beemaar saa!

ab to vafaa-o-mehr kaa maZkoor hee naheeN
tum kis samai kee kehte ho, hai yeh kahaaN kee baat?

ai boo-e-gul samajh` ke mahakiyo pavan ke beech
zaKhmee paRe haiN murGh hazaaroN chaman ke beech

yaa dil voh deedanee th`ee jagah, yaa keh tujh` baGhair
ab dekh`taa naheeN hai koyee is makaaN kee oar!

keh saaNjh` ke muYe ko ai "Mir" roYeN kab tak
jaise chiraaGh-e-muflis ik dam se jal bujh`aa too!

(3) a'am bol-chaal meN bohat se aise alfaaz^ musta'mil haiN jin se har shaKhS vaaqif naheeN hai. chunaan.ch unheN adab-o-she'r meN Khaal-Khaal hee kaam meN laayaa gayaa hai. Mir ne is qabeel ke bohat se alfaaz^ aur fiqre nah Sirf be-takallufee se baaNdh`e haiN bal.k apnee qaadir-ul-kalaamee se un meN aisee dilkashee aur apnaa,iyat paidaa kar dee hai keh hameN un kee ajnabiyyat kaa iHsaas kam hee hotaa hai aur ham aise asha'ar kee gehraayee aur ma'naviyyat meN Doob kar reh jaate haiN. is t^araH ke alfaaz^ meN darj-e-Zel alfaaz^ ko ginaa jaa saktaa hai:

kaney (paas, qareeb), kin (kis), tanik (Zaraa), per-saal (guZishtah saal), go,iyaa (goyaa), kaDh`ab (be-Dh`ab, be-daul), kinhoN (kisee) vaGhaira. aise alfaaz^ meN se beshtar aaj-kal mutlaq matrook haiN. Mir ke chand asha'ar mulaaHiz^a farmaa,iYe:

itne mun,i'm jahaan se guZre
vaqt-e-reHlat kisee kaney zar th`aa?

jee to aise kayee Sadqeh kiYe tujh` per lekin
Haif! yeh hai keh tanik bh`ee too pasheemaaN na huwaa!

nah milyo chaahne vaaloN se apne
nah jaane tujh` se yeh kin ne kahaa th`aa?

kyoN nah dekh`ooN chaman ko Hasrat se
aashiyaaN th`aa miraa bh`ee yaaN per-saal

koyee KhwaahaaN naheeN hamaaraa "Mir"
go,iyaa jins-e-naaravaa haiN ham!

aaj kal be-qaraar haiN ham bh`ee
baiTh` jaa! chalne-haar haiN ham bh`ee!

(4) a'vaamee alfaaz^ meN un fiqroN aur muHaavaroN ko bh`ee shaamil kiyaa jaa saktaa hai jo bol-chaal kaa HiSSah to haiN lekin she'r-o-shaai'ree meN jin kaa ista'maal a'am naheeN hai. Mir ne apne kalaam meN aise alfaaz^ aur muHaavare nihaayat hunar-mandee se ista'maal kiYe haiN, macla": Dh`ai jaanaa (barbaad ho jaanaa, gir jaanaa), naubat bajaanaa (Khud-sitaayee karnaa, e'ilaan karnaa), te,oree chaRh`aanaa (maathe par bal aanaa), kuRh`naa (dil mailaa karnaa), judee yaa jude-jude (alag, munfarid), kam-gher honaa (meHdood yaa ch`oTaa honaa) vaGhaira. micaaleN dekh`iYe:

ham Khastah-Haal tujh` se haiN naazuk-mizaaj-tar
te,oree chRh`aayee too ne k yaaN jee nikal gayaa!

ph`irte ho "Mir" SaaHeb sab se jude-jude tum
shaayad kaheeN tumhaaraa dil in dinoN lagaa hai!

jaamah-e-hastee th`aa i'shq apnaa magar kam-gh`er th`aa
daaman-e-tar kaa mire dariyaa hee kaa saa ph`er th`aa

apnee deRh` eeNT kee judee masjid
kisee veeraane meN banaa,iYe gaa

ho jo teraa saa raNg gul kaa saa hai
reejh`eN ham tab jo aisee boo bh`ee ho

har koyee is maqaam par das roz
apnee naubat bajaaYe jaataa hai

naqd-e-dil Ghaflat se kh`oyaa, raah kh`oTee kar gaYe
kaarvaaN jaataa rahaa, ham Khwaab hee meN mar gaye!

istiqaamat se hooN jooN koh-e-qavee-dil lekin
Z^o'f se i'shq se Dh`aitaa hooN, giraa jaataa hooN

ch`ile haiN moNDh`e, ph`aTee hai kohnee, chubh`e hai cholee, ph`aNse hai muhree
qayaamat us kee hai taNg-poshee, hamaaraa dil to ba-taNg aayaa!

(5) a'vwamee alfaaz^ ke is silsile ke aaKhir meN un alfaaz^ kaa Zikr Z^arooree hai jo ma'roof alfaaz^ meN ma'moolee tabdeelee se bane haiN lekin ab mut^laq matrook haiN. nah Sirf un kaa ista'maal she'r-o-adab se hee uTh` gayaa hai bal.k a'am bol-chaal meN bh`ee un kaa naam-o-nishaan naheeN miltaa hai. chand micaaleN dekh`iYe:

maseet (masjid), seedh`iyaaN (ulTee-seedh`ee), laageeN (lagee huyee), ch`uT-tiaaN (ch`ooTeeN), maaniyaaN (maaneeN), hamaariyaaN (hamaaree), dekh` liyaaN (dekh` leeN) vaGhaira:

paRh`te ph`ireN ge galiyoN meN in reKhtoN ko log
muddat raheN gee yaad yeh baateN hamaariyaaN!
